Mission Statement
To deliver quality public works services and manage public road and stormwater infrastructure on behalf of the citizens of Charlotte County, effectively and efficiently.
In accomplishment of this mission, the Public Works Division builds and maintains County roadways, bridges, navigable public waterways, and drainage infrastructure within the unincorporated area. All traffic signals within the County, including those on Florida Department of Transportation roads and within the City of Punta Gorda, are operated and maintained by the County's Greater Charlotte Street Lighting District. The Division further maintains vehicular, construction, and other rolling stock in the County equipment pool through its Fleet Management Section.
