19th annual Symphony of Trees Opens November 20

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Oct. 30, 2009) –– The 19th annual Symphony of Trees festival will open at 10:00 a.m. November 20 in the Charlotte County Historical Center, located at 22959 Bayshore Road on the waterfront in beautiful Charlotte Harbor.

An annual event of the Charlotte County Historical Center Society, the Symphony of Trees show and auction features unique holiday trees, wreaths, and centerpieces decorated by 15 – 20 local non-profit organizations. Visitors will have the opportunity to make offers on the entries, and the highest bidder purchases it directly from the sponsoring organization. Various hand-made gift items crafted by local artisans will also be on sale at Santa’s Workshop. Included at this event are a number of raffled items, with tickets available for $1 each or 6 for $5.

Showcased at the festival are the “People’s Choice” awards. Visitors cast votes for their favorite tree, wreath and centerpiece. After the votes are tallied, the winning entries receive an additional $100 cash prize. Participation at this annual event provides a wonderful opportunity for local non-profit organizations to raise funds, as well as to increase community awareness of their organization.

Symphony of Trees hours are 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and the festival runs through December 5. Admission is $2.00 for adults and $1.00 for children, with proceeds benefiting the Charlotte County Historical Center. The Center is a part of the Charlotte County Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources.
