Lot Donation Program
Application Requirements In most cases to be acceptable, lots must be in an Urban Service Area and all outstanding mortgages, liens, assessments and real estate taxes must be paid through the date the County’s acceptance of the lot. Other determining factors include the location of the property, its size and its environmental features. In some instances, the County will consider lots outside of an Urban Service Area if the lot is deemed environmentally sensitive or serves some other specific need of the County.
You can check if your lot is in an Urban Service Area by reviewing the Urban Service Area map at the County’s GIS Web site.
Review Process After your application is received, the County will undertake an in-depth review of your application and notify you of its decision. If your lot can be accepted, you will be asked to execute and return a warranty deed and a notarized statement that all mortgages, liens, assessments and real estate taxes have been paid. The County will provide you with both documents.
Is A Lot Donation Tax Deductible? The County cannot advise you if your donation qualifies as a charitable deduction for either Federal or State tax purposes. As such, you are urged to contact your local Internal Revenue Service Office and/or your State income tax agency.
