Project Status Update
Midway Boulevard Widening Phase 1
Bill Searfoss, Construction Services Manager
This project is broken into three phases that will ultimately widen Midway Boulevard to four lanes from Elkcam Boulevard to Kings Highway, with sidewalks on both sides. This first phase runs from Elkcam Boulevard to Sharpe Street (approximately 600 feet east of the Harbor/Midway intersection). Phase 2 of the project will replace drainage pipes under US 41 to accommodate stormwater runoff associated with Phase 3. Phase 3 will widen Midway Boulevard from two to four lanes between Sharpe Street and Kings Highway. The project also includes new traffic signals at Harbor Boulevard, a raised median, protected turn lanes at selected locations, street lighting from US 41 to Kings Highway, and drainage improvements.
Future dates and durations associated with this project are approximations and are dependent on funding, permitting, weather, and contractor availability. Permitting for some projects, depending on their complexity, can take years to obtain.
