Non-Profit Financial Assistance Program
The purpose of the Non-Profit Financial Assistance Program (FAP) is to provide financial support for services that positively impact the residents of Charlotte County, enhancing the overall quality of life in the community.
The program currently provides funding to nineteen local non-profit agencies. Categories include aging and disabilities; crisis and crisis stabilization; children, youth and families; health, mental health and wellness; substance abuse prevention and education; and arts, culture and environment.
Non-profit organizations requesting County funds must submit financial assistance applications each year. The applications are reviewed and scored by an evaluation committee which makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners for final funding decisions. The Financial Assistance Program total allocation for fiscal year 06/07 (October 1, 2006 through September 30, 2007) is $1.2 million. The Board of County Commissioners will determine the funding for 07/08 in September 2007.
