Charlotte County Employee Recognition Programs

Purpose:
The purpose of the Charlotte County Employee Recognition programs is to provide a process for nominating and selecting employees who exemplify our core values and have made significant contributions to the mission of Charlotte County. Awards include Employee of the Month, Employee of the Year, and the Leadership Award for Management/Supervisory Employees. These awards are individual awards and only individual employees can be nominated.

Eligibility:
Eligible employees for Employee of the Month, Employee of the Year, and Leadership Award are part-time or full-time employees who have been employed with Charlotte County BCC for at least one year. Employees are eligible to receive annual awards no more than one (1) time in a two-year period.

Elected County Officials, County Administrator, County Attorney, Assistant County Administrator, Department Directors, Volunteers, Interns, Temporary Employees, Contract Employees, and Employees provided through an employment agency shall not be eligible.

Award Processes
A. Employee of the Month:
1. Nominations: Nominations will be submitted to Human Resources on the corresponding nomination form no later than 4:30 p.m. on the last business day of the month. Nominations may be submitted by employees and citizens, except the County Administrator, Assistant County Administrator, County Attorney, and Commissioners. Self-nominations are not permitted.

2. Records Review: Personnel Records of each nominee will be reviewed by Human Resources staff. Nominees with disciplinary actions either pending or during the nominating year or with an overall rating of “does not meet expectations” on the most recent performance evaluation shall not be considered for the award.

3. Selection: Nominations will be reviewed and a selection made by the Senior Leadership Team. Once the employee is selected, the employee’s department will complete a short biography to be used for the awards presentation.

4. Award: Each employee of the month will receive a certificate, a reserved parking space at worksite, and selection of an award (examples include meals from local restaurants, 3-month parking pass for Charlotte County Parks & Boat Ramps, or $25 cash award). B. Employee of the Year
1. Nominations: Recipients of Employee of the Month Awards are eligible for this award. No other submissions will be accepted.

2. Selection: Human Resources will prepare a ballot containing the names and summary of each Monthly Award winner for that fiscal year and post on the intranet. Votes may be cast by any part-time or full-time Charlotte County BCC employee. Supervisors and Managers will ensure all employees have an opportunity to vote. Ballots will be posted for one full week: Wednesday through Tuesday. Voting will close at 11:59 p.m. Human Resources will tabulate the results. In the event of a tie, the Human Resources Director, County Administrator, and Assistant County Administrator will make the final decision.
