Charlotte County Citizens' Academy
Program Overview - Eligibility - Schedule - Application
The Charlotte County Citizens' Academy is an exciting opportunity to become a Government Graduate and learn more about the inner- workings of your Charlotte County Government. The Academy is sponsored by the Charlotte County Communications & Marketing Department. For additional program information, contact Sherry Montgomery, Communications & Marketing Specialist at 941-623-1035.
Program Overview:
The primary goal of the Citizens' Academy is to give our residents and staff the opportunity to share the inner-workings of County Government. The Academy will provide residents with an overview of county operations.
Residents that participate in the Academy program can expect to meet the Commissioners, the County Administrator, County Attorney and department directors. Staff members are looking forward to answering questions and demonstrating how working for Charlotte County Government is not just another day at the office!
Upon acceptance into the Academy each participant will be provided with a complete schedule and all needed materials to complete the five week session. At the end of each Academy class "graduates" will be recognized at a Board of County Commissioners meeting and given a certificate of completion.
Most importantly, graduates will leave with a thorough understanding of county government, how various departments function, and how they can work with county staff to meet the demands of a growing community.
Eligibility:
The Citizens' Academy is open to Charlotte County residents with a valid Charlotte County Voters Registration card.
